Cock Feather necklace (pendant)
While living in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico I came upon a cock farm just down the calle. Fifty, single metal cages spaced equally apart housed the most beautiful roosters I had ever seen. As inquisitive as my new life in Mexico was, I visited this location every day, as did the proud owners of these fine birds. These fine gallos were fighting cocks. This discovery opened up a whole new world of research on gamecocks and other exotic chickens, and their role in the ancient history of Mexico, which I hold no judgment, just fascination.
I was introduced to an exotic chicken breeder a few miles from town. What I found there was an amazing window into the world of exotic chickens—I had no idea these birds existed. I was astounded by the variety of shapes, sizes, gorgeous colors, patterns and textures.
This Cock Feather design is a memento to my Mexico adventure, new discoveries and a new fascination with feathers and our feathered friends.
