Peacock Feather brooch
There is hardly an object more beautiful or dazzling to the eye then a peacock feather, or a vase full of them, or photographs displaying a peacocks full plumage.
A courtyard off calle Jose Guadalupe Mojica in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, has a grand garden with a peafowl harem. I recall it was spring. The peahens were in season. During my stay the “ladies” would convene in the courtyard in the mornings foraging through the fallen jacaranda petals. The peacocks would enter into the circle in front of the “man”—on full display shuffling his awesome feathers. I can only describe it as an auspicious masterpiece. I was blessed to witness this every morning during my stay. It was an experience I’ll never forget.
A feather I found perched on my windowsill inspired designs to create into silver in memory of that experience.
